Finding the Right Company for You with ADHD or Dyslexia

If you have been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or dyslexia, you know how hard it can be to find a job and workplace that is suited to your needs. With the right knowledge and preparation, however, you can identify the company culture and size that will work best for you. Here are five tips on how to do just that.

Consider Company Size: It is important to consider the size of a company when searching for a job. Smaller companies may be more supportive and understanding of your needs than larger companies because they have fewer employees and resources. On the other hand, larger companies often have more robust support systems in place such as employee assistance programs, disability accommodations, and flexible working hours.

Research Company Values: Knowing what values a company holds is key in determining if it is right for you. Do its core values align with yours? Does it prioritize diversity and inclusion? Does it go out of its way to welcome people with disabilities? All these questions should factor into your decision-making process when choosing an employer.

Look at Employee Reviews: When researching potential employers, take time to read reviews from current or former employees about their experiences at the business. These reviews can give valuable insight into how employees are treated by management and how accommodating employers may be towards workers who require additional support due to learning disabilities or physical impairments.

Utilize Resources: There are several free resources available online such as The Job Accommodation Network (JAN) which provides information on reasonable accommodations under The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Additionally, organizations like the National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD) provide resources specifically tailored towards helping individuals with learning disabilities succeed in their chosen careers and workplaces through self-advocacy tools and access to legal services if necessary .

Finding the right job can be challenging if you have ADHD or dyslexia but it’s not impossible! By using these five tips ,you can find an employer who understands your situation while still providing opportunities for growth and success within their organization. Remember, there are many resources available online as well as support services designed specifically for those living with learning disabilities so don’t hesitate to reach out if needed! Good luck!
